Club Paradise Palawan – How To Get There

Palawan

Elysia and I made the trip to Club Paradise Palawan, Philippines in May 2008 and boy are we glad we did. We had to do some searching and asking around once we were in the Philippines about how to actually get to Club Paradise because it’s a little… I hesitate to say off the beaten path but it’s slightly less common than the ever popular Boracay or something like that…

In terms of how to get there, it depends where you’re coming from. The most common places you’ll be coming from are Cebu or Manila. As you’ll probably know by now, Club Paradise is on the group of islands called Palawan, on a smaller island called Dimakya.

From Manila (where I assume most people are coming from) you need to take a flight from Manila airport (there’s two airports who’s names I forget, but you can get there from the smaller of two that does domestic flights) to an airport called Busuanga, which is closest to the island of Dimakya. You’ll take a smallish plane (about a 50 seater) to get there, but don’t worry, it’s coming BACK from Palawan where the plane gets really small… 10 seater… felt like flying in a car… first time we’d ever done that… quite the experience!

As for the airline, we got a tip from a local to avoid the airline “Asian Spirit” which may be a little cheaper but has a dubious level of safety. Apparently the locals have a saying “You’ll leave as an Asian, and come back as a Spirit!” haha… we didn’t want to take any chances.  Anyway once you get to Busuanga it’s all easy.

There’s a jeepney that runs to the edge of the water at which point you jump on a little boat and head out to the island of Dimakya of which Club Paradise is the only resort. Here’s a little pic of ours from CP – took this one from in the water :) Most of the time you’ll book the trip to Club Paradise through a company that’ll have all the plans prepared for you go, so once you get to Busuanga, they’ll have your name on a sheet and someone will say, “come this way to club paradise” etc, so you won’t get lost.palawan
